ART RECEPTION: “My Love for Art” by Shyama’s Art
When: Friday, February 3 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Where: Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa
More Info: Shyama’s Art will display an exhibit titled, “My Love for Art” in the Gallery at Carrollwood Cultural Center through February. The exhibit will be the fifth exhibit at the Center for artist Shyama Rangwala and her students. The opening reception will be Friday, February 3 from 6 until 8 p.m.  Also on display through February will be artwork by featured artists Anne Bowen, Peter Stilton, Francine Bauer and Jack Casey.

BROADWAY BENT
Performances:

Saturday, February 4 at 8 p.m.

More Info: The creative team of Washington and Eisenstadt will present Broadway Bent, a celebration of Broadway musicals with a bend. Audiences will enjoy the party like atmosphere and full-service open bar while some of the best musical theatre performers in the Tampa Bay area sing popular pieces from favorite Broadway musicals. The bend? All the songs have had their genders bent. Men are singing women’s songs and women singing men’s. Leading ladies become leading men, guys become dolls, dames become gents. It’s Broadway….. Bent!
Admission: $30

LECTURE: Betty Once Named Sara
When: Wednesday, February 8 at 6 p.m.
Where: Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa
More Info: Holocaust survivor and author Betty Grebenschikoff will discuss her memoir, ONCE MY NAME WAS SARA, which chronicles her family’s plight in Nazi Germany, leading to their escape to China, then to the hardships of the “Shanghai Ghetto” and finally to the United States. This presentation is part of the Lecture Series at the Carrollwood Cultural Center presented by Carrollwood Village HOAs. Light hors d oeuvres will be provided by Wienberg Village.

A VALENTINE’S DAY CELEBRATION
When: Saturday, February 11 at 8 p.m.

PIANIST FRANZ MANTINI
When: Saturday, February 18 at 7 p.m.
Where: Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa
More Info: Pianist Franz Mantini will perform a program featuring Beethoven’s beloved Pathètique Sonata as well as selections by Mozart, Chopin and more. Mantini has performed Concertos by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff, and MacDowell and chamber music with the Lafayette String Quartet and principal members of The Florida Orchestra, the San Diego Symphony, and the Houston Symphony. He was a prize winner in the 1990 Florida West Coast Chopin Competition and won a Jury Discretionary Prize and Best Performance of a Classical Era Work at the 4th and 5th International Piano Competitions for Outstanding Amateurs, respectively, presented by the Van Cliburn Foundation.

SQUADRON SPECTACULAR
When: Sunday, February 26 at 2 p.m.
Where: Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Road in Tampa
More Info: A new interactive show by brothers Matthew and Jamie Jones.  The brothers will use their artistic abilities – Matthew is a musician and Jamie is a graphic novelist — to introduce kids ages 8 to 12 to a new superhero.
