March is a great month in Florida – the weather is beautiful, the skies are blue, and the season of festivals and great barbecue is starting up. March brings with it the amazing holiday...
January… a new beginning. Time to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the new one, to start a new project, take up a new hobby, or recommit to good habits that may have slipped away.
January… a new beginning. Time to reflect on the past year and make resolutions for the new one, to start a new project, take up a new hobby, or recommit to good habits that may have slipped away.
My grandmother always said that with the change in seasons, it was time to shake things up, clean things out, and get ready to hunker down for winter snow (she lived near Chicago, where 20 below zero was a perfectly normal wintertime temperature).
With Ian's damage done and intensive cleanup well underway, it seems that this month is truly the month of giving thanks. Sometimes November rolls around, and it just doesn’t feel like it should be here, or not yet, anyway. Other times, like now, it’s exciting to know that we have the rest of fall to go and the winter ahead. And with that, the holiday season!
Once September makes an appearance, it has a way of making us feel as though fall has arrived. The temperatures may still be balmy, but the promise of the coziest time of year can’t be beaten. And although most of us aren’t quite ready for pumpkin spice-drenched treats, the end of summer is joyous enough to celebrate.
Ah, finally. We’re moving into fall. I’m sure I’ve said this before, but October seems to be one of those pivotal months of the year. The weather starts changing, we move into holiday season mode, and it’s just generally a great month for finding events and festivals to keep us occupied.
Each February is coated in heart-shaped everything. From sweaters to chocolates and everything in between, this month is defined by those colorful little doodles. However, this month isn’t just about the cartoon version of what beats in our chests—it's also American Heart Month. With that comes increased awareness of what you can do to keep your ticker in tip-top shape.
With springtime comes an urge to reinvent ourselves. Most of us feel this at the beginning of January and take action to change our lifestyles for the better. Then come spring, we need another push to keep up with the positive changes we’ve implemented (or given up).  Spring is an opportunity for rebirth in every sense.
September is here, and I know I may be jumping the gun a bit in saying this, but so is fall! Though temperatures still feel the same as they did in summer, we’re moving into the wonderful time of year when we may need to relocate our light jackets. Denim, windbreaker, cardigan, whatever you have—dig it out and keep it close for the season to come!
