Creative Corner Submissions for March

“Dreamers and Doers” by Theresa Loder

Do not forget
Those who toil day to day
Doing things for pay
Sometimes repetitious
None the less
What it takes
To keep our planet
From becoming a big mess
The things we do for dreams
Not one more important
Than the other...
It seems
We all depend
On what we each can do
Even those who can’t
Give jobs
To those who do

“High Expectations” by Steve Duggan

I’ve had high expectations and big dreams all right
They have spurred me or plagued me all of my life.
Have I been too ambitious in my chosen approach
Have I let down and disappointed those I love most
I’ve come to the realization as I reflect on my past
That what truly matters is not first place —or last
To be a good person and help all fellow man
Is the better path followed to God’s promised land
At times I am weary as I struggle to achieve
What God had in store for me, that’s what I believe
So I pray when I’ve traveled to the end of my road
I’ve accomplished all He’s ‘asked of me
And have His hand to hold!

Two Poems of Faith and Friendship By Chester J. Sudzinski

“Second Chance”

On this earth my parents placed,
Another being in the race.
He grew and nourished at his pace,
Went to school and took up space.

Year by year this child made waste,
And in the end he came to face.
Only to see he was out of place,
Among the beings in his race.

Time drew dear as years blew clear,
Days of dreams had disappeared.
Now he had himself for years,
No one else to wish him dear.

Second chance is what I need,
His only thought to succeed.
What should I do? I do believe.
This second chance is right for me.

With mind in hand, I do proceed,
Sure and confident, as I can be.
My second chance will succeed,
As long as I am one with Thee.

“Friends” (The Lonely Palm Tree)

In the desert stood a tree,
Left alone and feeling free.
Enjoyed the sun and the little stream,
It found its place and felt serene.
Many a traveler along the way,
Stopped to rest under its shade.
They drank and ate and spoke a lot,
About their journey to Camelot.
Sun, wind and rain was all it knew,
The tree was happy hearing news.
Seeds and nuts from travelers’ food
Grew to flourish in the lagoon.
At Last!
The lonely palm tree found some friends,
He called them fruit,
And said, AMEN.
