Creative Corner Submissions for November

“My Car Won’t Start” by John M. Alexander

My car won’t start
But, seeing I’m smart
And handsome and
College degreed

I’m sure that I’ll know
In a few minutes or so
Just what it is
It might need.

The differential seems sound
And appropriately round.
The frimulator’s fine
I can tell.

Transmission’s okay
(I keep it that way.)
And the starter and coils
Are both swell.

Through my precognition
The electronic ignition
Is plugged in and
Works just great.

Upholstery and rugs
And wires and plugs
Are all in condition
First rate.

But, the damn thing won’t start.
And, though I’m obviously quite smart
I’m beginning to think I’m an ass

After hours of probing
And testing and groping . . . .
I think I forgot
To get gas.

Bunny,

I see you

Silent gift you are

Special like butterflies

Spirits dancing in life

Little Tyke’s Thanksgiving – A Short Story by Ann-Marie Stenhouse

Little Tyke, Billy, lay in bed; he didn’t want to move this morning.  The smell of roasted turkey permeated his brain.  Once a year, he looked forward to those wonderful odors coming from the downstairs kitchen where a large turkey had been slowly cooking all night long.  In a few hours, his grandparents would be here. They would bring brightly colored presents to put under the tree that Daddy had cut down yesterday.  Little Tyke thought, I’ve got to be a really lucky boy to have such a great family. His second thought was, Maybe I’ll get to have the wishbone.  His third daydream was, And maybe this year, I’ll get the big turkey leg!

Trading Spaces (chosen for ” Embracing Our Differences” Exhibit at Sarasota Florida Island Park) by Theresa Loder

If you could be me
And I could be you
And we traded places
For a week or two

Then my perspective
And your point of view
Would change in ways
Maybe many maybe few

We'd realize
Where our journey takes us
It's the who what where why how
That makes us

But
Since you are you
And I am me
We can only imagine
What that change might be

No matter where you go
Or who you see
You 'll always be you
And I'll always be me
