Local Creative Corner Submissions:

“You and the Sea” by Anne Marshlow of Largo, FL

How like the sea you can be.
Suddenly crashing down around me
Teasing, the tempting…
Only to retreat as quickly as you came.

You each possess a quality of uncertainty.
Here… then gone… then here once more.
If I were one to choose
between the reliable and the unknown,
I’d take the easy way out every time.

“The Kiss” by Lil Cromer of Belleaire, FL

We were married — not to each other. This handsome specimen of masculinity, with twinkling indigo eyes, held a strange obsessive fascination, causing me to let my guard down. Up close his breath, sweet as pineapple, was like a breeze on a spark. His mouth held a promise of proficiency. His tongue made love to my mouth, so far down my throat I thought it would pierce my heart. It nearly suffocated me. This kiss was so deep I wanted my whole body to fit through his mouth; I couldn’t get enough. It felt like a giant Hoover, the suction was incredible. My senses sang as the kiss continued, a deep lingering familiar kiss.

The price I paid — all subsequent kisses have paled in comparison.

“The Girl” by Dennis J. Gagnon of Cape Coral, FL

There she is… hiding from within… She’s not easy to spot… But she is in there.

It may take more than one look to see her, but you will see her if you look hard enough… she will never be gone.

She will show herself from time to time… so you must always be ready to catch her.

Then suddenly… there she is with all her glory… her teasing qualities that make you laugh as no other could.

You first see it with a glimmer and then sparkle in her eyes… and ever so slowly her lips part to display a bit of a smile.

Her smile turns into a grin… as she reveals herself to you… as she has done from the instant we met.

You take a moment to thank God for keeping that little girl alive and well in the woman that you will soon learn to love.
