Essential oils: you’ve heard of them, maybe about them, but you’re wondering if they have a place in your home. From lemon to patchouli, essential oils have an array of medicinal and therapeutic functions. Not only do essential oils smell great, but they also have a variety of health benefits for different conditions. Here’s a list of essential oils that can help with common health conditions:
Bergamot for Blood Pressure
According to Health Watch List, bergamot oil has been reported to help reduce high blood pressure. When diffused and inhaled for 15 minutes to an hour, this essential oil helps bring blood pressure to more stable levels. This stems from bergamot’s anxiety-relieving aromatherapeutic qualities: relaxation leads to a normalized blood pressure reading.

Tea Tree for Skin
Tea tree oil is an essential oil I can personally condone as I use it for a number of topical uses. The oil is extracted from the leaves of an evergreen tree native to Australia. The country’s sunny and moist areas make for the ideal environment in which these trees grow. From a spot treatment for blemishes and bug bites to diluting it with water and using it as a disinfecting spray during cold and flu season. This versatile oil is great to keep on hand for skin issues, purification, and even the revitalizing smell.
Cinnamon for Diabetes
Cinnamon essential oil, whether consumed or inhaled, can help lead to lower glucose levels. Native to the countries of Sri Lanka and India, both the spice and oil are derived from Due to cinnamon’s overwhelming number of antioxidants, it helps alleviate oxidative stress that causes diabetes and high glucose levels. Cinnamon also helps to increase healthy blood flow because of its blood-thinning properties. With this increased blood flow and circulation comes lowered inflammation. What can’t cinnamon oil do?

Lavender for Joint Pain
Lavender essential oil not only smells great, but it works well in relieving joint pain. Lavender has anti-inflammatory qualities that make it great for helping anyone suffering from joint pain. When used topically, lavender works to increase internal blood flow to the problem area as it helps to bring down inflammation. Be careful when using lavender oil as it’s toxic when swallowed. It can also aid in relaxation and sleep.

Rosemary for Dementia:
Rosemary essential oil can be used for those suffering from dementia. When pressed to produce its concentrated oil, this savory herb works to improve mental awareness and cognitive ability through its uplifting quality for both body and mind. Rosemary can also help increase appetite for those with dementia.

What else can essential oils do?
On top of these potential uses, these oils can also help improve your mood as well as helping alleviate symptoms. Essential oils can help to temporarily improve symptoms of these aforementioned conditions, not long-term.
