Feeling like you are getting older is disheartening, demoralizing and a little bit scary. But just because you’ve reached retirement, does not mean you aren’t thriving and living your best life. It may not be as easy as when you were in your twenties or thirties, or even forties, but here are five tips to help you continue feeling fresh and thriving as a senior.

Tips for Seniors to Stay Spry

1. Exercise Regularly

Keep your body moving. You’ll thank yourself in the long run. Exercise not only reduces the risk of multiple chronic diseases that can creep up on you as you get older, but it keeps you looking and feeling young. You don’t need to be going to the gym for an intense hour-long workout every single day of the week, but you do need to make sure you are doing some light exercise and getting that blood pumping.

2. Eat a Balanced Diet

Everyone knows that exercise and eating a balanced diet is just the perfect recipe for a long and healthy life. Again, with those chronic diseases, but poor dietary choices can help them catch you sooner than you would like. Don’t go cutting out all those tasty bits, that’s no fun, but do make conscious decisions to include more fruits and vegetables in your meals so your senior body is getting the nutrients it needs.

3. Wear What Makes You Feel Good

How we look has a huge influence over our mentality and how we feel. There is nothing better than feeling confident in how you look, but it can become more challenging as you get older. You aren’t the spring chicken you used to be. But you can be that suave silver fox. These timeless British design classics from Alexander McQueen offer simple styles that will complement any look. Snap up your favorite pieces from the critically acclaimed collection and strut your stuff with the same confidence you had at your school prom.

4. Check Your Health

Health is everything; it affects your happiness, and the happiness of your loved ones. You want to be around as long as possible to make as many amazing memories as possible with the ones you love and watch your family and friends grow, learn and experience wonderful things. Getting your health checked regularly by a professional will give you peace of mind so you can relax in the knowledge that physically, you are a healthy and thriving senior.

5. Keep Doing What You Love

Entering your senior years doesn’t mean you have to forfeit doing all the fun activities that you used to love. You can still go to the park for a kick about, play volleyball in the swimming pool and watch all the cartoons that you like. Fun has no age limit, and don’t ever let anyone tell you any different. Keep doing the things you love and keep finding new hobbies and activities you enjoy.

No matter what anyone says, age is just a number, especially if you follow these five tips to make sure you keep on feeling as fresh and as thriving as ever.
