Who’s going to say “no” to travel? Traveling isn’t just about going from place to place- it is so much more. To the mind, soul and body, it is a form of relaxation. And though it’s just as exciting, it’s equally stressful. Maintaining skin while traveling is tricky. However, with a few tips and tricks, you can survive traveling with flawless skin. Here are eight tips to keep skin looking amazing during vacations.

The stress of traveling can be tough on your skin. Be sure to fit skincare into your busy travel routine! Image from Pixabay

1. Traveling skincare basics

Sunscreen is a must. Whatever be the season of your travel, never forget to wear sunscreen. Make sure you select  SPF over 30 for perfect protection. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going out. Reapply for every 2 to 3 hours. Water-based sunscreen will work best for oily skin. If you have dry skin, you can opt for creamy sunscreen.

2. Deep moisturization

Moisturizing skin every day is the best to avoid skin problems in the long run. They prevent you from extreme dryness and oiliness. The best way is to apply moisturizer the night before you begin your travel. This way, you will be all set for a perfect vacay day.

A good moisturizer will keep you moisturized for 4-5 hours. Make sure to check the ingredients while selecting a moisturizer. Look for ingredients like protein and glycerin for supple skin.

3. Clean frequently

Traveling may attract a lot of dust and dirt on the skin. Eventually, the skin may become dull and polluted. The best remedy for this is to simply cleanse your face often. A foam face wash could be ideal for cleansing oily faces, whereas creamy face washes are best for dry skin. Foaming face washes can have a tendency to dry your skin, so keep that in mind for your skin type. In case you find it difficult to carry face wash, you can switch to facial wipes. Wipes are safe and gentle. They come in various formulas, especially for dry, sensitive and oily skin.

4. Blot it away

When you’ve been caught up in an uncomfortable situation, washing of your face on a normal schedule can be difficult. In such cases, blotting paper may come to your rescue. Most people have more oil secretions in the “T-zone” of the face. Blotting papers are any easy and convenient fix when on the go. They are handy, easy to carry and can be used anywhere.

Tip: In case you forget or don’t have access to blotting paper, you can replace it with dry tissue paper as it has the same textured quality as blotting papers.

5. Mist it up

Carrying a mist spray in a travel bag is a must. The idea behind using a face mist is to get instant hydration. Whenever you want to feel refreshed, you can just spray on the go. You can give a try to mineral-based or floral spray. Keep the mist bottle at a distance of five centimeters from the face and spray it. Pat down or allow to air dry.

6. Lip care

Lips tend to dry very easily, and wearing lipsticks may dry them more. The best solution to having moisturized and beautiful lips is tinted lip balm. This can tint your lips your favorite color, as well as moisturize them. The cosmetic market is filled up with many lip balms, so be sure to choose one (or make your own!) that has natural ingredients. Reapply whenever you feel your lips become dry.

Tip: You can apply a mixture of olive oil and honey before going to bed. This will help keep your lips soft and supple during the day time.

7. Bye-bye bad eyes

Traveling may cause puffy eyes. Carry an ice pack with you. Whenever you feel tired or notice your eyes looking a bit dull, you can hold the towel or fabric wrapped ice pack to your under eyes. This way you will instantly be fresh and awake. You can also use eye masks, to take short naps while on the road. Carry a pair of good UV protection sunglasses. It will protect your eyes from dust and pollution during travel too.

8. Freshen up

Carry a body mist in the handbag or backpack. When you feel sweaty, you can freshen up in seconds. Mild floral scents can be great as they offer instant refreshment without being too overpowering. Also, use mouth wash to get rid of bad breath during travels if you’re unable to brush your teeth.

Hydration is the key to beautiful skin. Carry a water bottle with you to keep your body and skin hydrated for a great day. Avoid over consumption of sodas and carbonated drinks during travel. Furthermore, when going on a beach, make sure to carry all sun care essentials, like beach umbrella, in your roof rack basket. Choose fresh juices or infused water. Follow these tips on your vacation days to have great skin and enjoy yourself to the fullest.
