Matthew Dexter and Aaron Cates (pictured left to right) found a female dog—abnormally thin, weak and in need of immediate medical attention—while mowing grass along Sunnyside Drive in Leesburg.

Thanks to their heroic actions, a Lake County Public Works Road Maintenance Operations crew is being acknowledged for their efforts to save an emaciated, abandoned dog found lying in mud along a busy road recently.

Matthew Dexter and Aaron Cates immediately contacted authorities and the dog was transported to the Lake County Animal Shelter where she received immediate, life-saving supportive care.
The dog, affectionately named “Glory,” is eating, drinking and gaining her strength back.
